Author statement

From the moment I could read other people's stories, I started to write my own - with the result that I finished my first novel when I was 12 years old. It's important for me to be excited about what I do, and to be interested in the subjects I write about. Otherwise, how can I expect readers to be interested and excited? I suppose my greatest ambition is for my characters to live on after I've gone. The idea of a vicarious immortality is very appealing! And I think I'm very, very lucky to have become involved in crime fiction at a time when the genre is so vibrant and diverse. The boundaries are continually expanding, and the possibilities for crime writers seem endless.
